Llangynidr Hill Climb Challenge 2023

We would like to invite you to join us for the 2023 Llangynidr Hill Climbing challenge. 

Basics

Location - Red Lion Pub Llangynidr (Duffryn Rd, Llangynidr, Crickhowell NP8 1NT)

Date - Saturday June 24th 2023

Time - 8am - 6pm (last climb attempt starting no later than 6pm)

Cost - £25 Entry (Last entry accepted 17th of June)

The Challenge

The event will be run as in 2022 with the base being the Red Lion Pub from 8am till 6pm and climbing the Mountain as many times as feel comfortable in doing up to a maximum of 10 times. Ascents will be counted for you by a marshal at the top of the climb. 

Cereal bars, chocolate bars, fruit, tea, coffee, fruit juices and water will be provided in the Red Lion as part of the fee with the majority of money going to the chosen charity.

The Charity

The charity for 2023 is Brecon Mountain Rescue. 

Brecon Mountain Rescue Team is an emergency service staffed entirely by volunteers and funded entirely by public donations.

The charity will be providing First Aid for participants on the day. 

The Climb

A long steady climb, Llangynidr mountain climbs up an exposed mountain side. Towards the top, there is a false flat before the final push for the line.

  • Location: Llangynidr, S.E. Wales.

  • Distance: 3.64 miles

  • Average gradient: 7%

  • Maximum gradient: 16%

  • Height gain 1,310 ft / 400m
