We would like to invite you to join us on the Third Chepstow Cycling Club Historic Ride.

 

The ride commemorates the exploits of the original Chepstow Cycling Club, who raced on Ordinary Bicycles (aka Penny Farthings) from Beachley Point to a turn on the A466 north of Llancloudy and back.

Our route is different to make it more rider friendly, but it still captures the spirit and some of the challenge of the original route - even more so if you choose to ride it on an Ordinary!

​

There are two route options: a longer route at 80km / 50 miles, and a shorter one at 50km / 32 miles.

​

Both start and end from the Chepstow Leisure Centre, heading out along the Itton road, through Trellech, Mitchel Troy, to Monmouth. The longer route takes a loop north of Monmouth to Rockfield, Newcastle, Skenfrith, Llancloudy and back to rejoin the shorter route at Monmouth. Both routes head from Monmouth south to Chepstow along the beautiful Wye Valley to finish back at the Leisure Centre Car Park.

There will be a feed stop with nibbles and drinks at Monmouth which is roughly two-thirds distance for the long route and half distance for the short route.

Because of the need to give numbers for catering, and plan the logistics of the ride, the event is advance tickets only, there will be no entry on the day.

 

Tickets can be bought via the CCC website up until 10:00 on Saturday 18th September, after which entries will be closed.
